Logo for Violation Tracker UK and the words: A Tool for Researching Corporate Regulatory Infringements in the United KingdomGood Jobs First, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC seeks a part-time outreach contractor to help popularize its database chronicling corporate misconduct in the United Kingdom.

Since October 2021, Violation Tracker UK has provided free online access to the corporate penalty records of now 49 UK regulatory agencies — all combined and associated with ultimate corporate parents. Modeled on Violation Tracker, a U.S. version of the same kind of data that was launched in 2015, Violation Tracker UK is a unique investigative and campaign resource.

With UK-based funders, a UK-based researcher, and one part-time UK-based outreach contractor already in place (covering environmental and corporate accountability groups), we now seek a second part-time outreach contractor working about two days per week who will target trade union leaders and journalists.

The outreach contractor will work directly with the Good Jobs First Research Director Philip Mattera, who oversaw the creation of the database and directs its quarterly updates and other functions. They will be responsible for making the UK’s labour and journalism communities more aware of Violation Tracker UK and how it can be used to assist in union campaigns and/or reporting. The consultant will accomplish this by communicating in person (individually and at public events), online and via demonstrations of how the database works.

Applicants need to have:

  • A demonstrated commitment to racial, social, and economic justice
  • Active professional relationships within trades unions and/or among journalists in the UK
  • An extroverted working style ready to enthusiastically reach out to new potential users
  • The speaking and explanatory ability to comfortably demonstrate the database, especially over Zoom, to new database users
  • Writing ability to author about one blog a month for the website

The two outreach contractors will work cooperatively together to meet all requests for information and assistance. They will also help Philip Mattera document all published uses of the database.

The consulting rate for this independent contractor position will be US$35 per hour. This is a remote position. Applicants may be based anywhere in the UK.

Good Jobs First is an equal opportunity employer.
