Accountable Development Campaign Victories

Coalitions of community, labor, and religious organizations across the country have waged successful campaigns to increase accountability in the economic development practices of their states and cities. This section of our website is devoted to telling the stories of successful efforts to increase economic development accountability, including campaigns to increase access to information through disclosure laws; successful use of clawbacks to protect communities from runaway companies; and negotiation of community benefits agreements that bring the benefits of developments to local residents.

While every situation is different, we hope that these case studies can serve as models and inspiration for groups organizing similar campaigns in their own region. Many of the groups described here are willing to serve as a resource for campaigns elsewhere.

We at Good Jobs First want to know what your group is doing to promote accountable development. To tell us your stories, or to get help with your campaign, contact us at info@goodjobfirst.org.
